Yes, each box includes a high quality (H13 Class) HEPA filter along with instructions for easy installation.

Depending on the environment, the replacement cycle of a HEPA filter may vary. We recommend replacing once every 6 months for best results. Additional filters can be purchased on our site or through any retailer that sells the same size. 

Many UV-C products on the market use a technology that generates ozone, a known carcinogenic substance that may be harmful if exposed to the human body for long periods of time. Since the VAC uses UV-C LEDs to sterilize and clean with light, this product is indeed safe for a nursery as well as for the elderly and people with respiratory problems. 

Removing the desk stand transforms VAC into the perfect size for any cupholder with a level surface - we recommend this method since it allows for easy installation in the center console. Alternatively, the VAC can be fastened to a rear seat pocket by keeping the desk stand on and using the pre-installed clip to position as needed.  

The VAC operates in three different modes, indicated by the color of the LED on top of the unit. Green is whisper mode, orange is medium, and red is quick clean. The VAC can operate in any mode for long periods of time, simply choose the one with a noise level you’re most comfortable with.

We are very aware of the emerging market of fake and misleading UV-C LED products on the market right now due to COVID-19. What we see most often is off-shore manufacturers supplementing several violet color-tinted LEDs to provide the illusion that their product is working stronger, and in some cases the products may contain no UV-C LEDs at all. This is why we have included a genuine UV detecting device, specifically designed for the VSM, that allows you to confirm authenticity of a UV-C LED without risking your exposure in the process. Quality UV-C LEDs are rare and expensive, so we advise skepticism towards products that advertise having several included at a suspiciously low price point. The VSM+ allows for disinfection from 60 seconds to three, five, or seven minutes. The countdown will start at 99 in all modes, while the speed of countdown aligns to the chosen time.

It has been shown in studies that 60 seconds of UV-C exposure can effectively sterilize the surface area of a small item when positioned correctly; however, the effectiveness drastically increases when the time is tripled. We recommend 60 seconds if in a hurry but three minutes in most cases. You can also choose five or seven minutes for maximum effect.

The VSM+ will fully sterilize your phone, or any small device, one side at a time. If you choose to sterilize for three minutes, it will take a total of six minutes for total coverage.

The display “OF” confirms the product is off. Due to the nature of one-touch-sensitive controls, we have included this feature for those cycling through modes that may have selected more time than intended and want to restart the process. For example, if you tap the lid to disinfect for three minutes rather than 60 seconds, you can simply tap until you see “OF” to reselect your desired time. There is no need to select “OF” after disinfection is complete, as the product will shut off automatically to preserve battery life along with the display.

The flashing display “ST” is a safety measure that indicates the sterilization has stopped due to the sensor detecting movement. The display “FC” means that the product has finished charging and can be operated wirelessly once again.

The lithium-ion battery in the VSM+ can hold a charge for up to 40 minutes with continuous use. Since use-cases can vary 60 seconds to seven minutes, this means that the product may be used wirelessly for up to several days without needing to charge.

The VSM+ uses a strong UV-C wavelength (275nm) to destroy viruses and bacteria at the cellular level. Consequently this can also cause great harm to the eyes and skin when exposed for periods of time. As a safety measure, we have installed a sensor that shuts the device down if it detects the lid is being opened while the timer is on; however, the sensitivity of any sensor technology will vary depending on environmental conditions. For this reason we highly advise keeping the device stored away from children at all times.
